Floor Care

~ Use floor protectors on the legs of furniture to avoid scratching.

~ Wipe spills up as soon as possible; wetness and wood floors don’t get along.

~ Keep your home’s relative humidity between 45% and 55%; This will help prevent excess shrinkage, cracking, swelling and cupping.

~ Sweep or vacuum when you need; This will get the scratchy dirt and grit that makes it inside.

~ Don’t use products such as ammonia, pine soap, oil soap, chlorine bleach or any abrasive cleaners. They can all damage your floor’s finish.

~ Don’t wax your floor. It can dull the finish.

~ Don’t allow water to stand on your floor at any time. Water causes cupping, swelling, and eventually gapping.

~ Rearrange rugs, and furniture periodically so floors age evenly.

~ Keep pet nails trimmed to avoid scratches to your floor

~ Do not walk on floors with spike heeled or sports shoes
